The Monmouth University men (2-3-0) visit 25th-ranked UMass Lowell (3-1-1) in a non-conference game at Cushing Field in Lowell, Mass. Saturday at 7 p.m.
UMass Lowell began the season with a 3-0-0 record that placed it 12th in the national rankings. The River Hawks were dealt their first loss at Northeastern University, 2-1, in extratime Sept. 9. Four days later, they tied Quinnipiac University, 1-1, also in extratime.
Junior midfielder Jakov Basic leads the team with six points (two goals, two assists). Sophomore back Ivan Blaskic and senior forward Richard Mulo also have scored two goals. Goalkeeper Austin Kroll has given up four goals in five games, while amassing 13 saves. The senior has two shutouts with a 3-1-1 record.
UMass Lowell has a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series over Monmouth. The series began in 2014 and the programs have faced each other every year since. The Hawks earned a 5-0 win in the series opener, before UMass took the 1-0 and 3-0 wins in 2015 and 2016, respectively.
