NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Wagner College women twice gave up a one-goal lead and settled for a 2-2 draw at Iona College Sunday afternoon.

The Seahawks drew first blood 22 minutes into the match as an interception deep in Iona territory gave the ball to sophomore Kaitlyn Ross, who fed a through ball to junior Kristin Bischoff. The forward put the ball into the bottom-right corner for a 1-0 lead.

Goalkeeper Delaney Beck, who finished with eight saves, was forced to make several vital saves, including back-to-back stops following a free kick in the 63rd minute as well as a save on a long-range effort three minutes later.

The Gaels forged a 1-1 tie in the 76th minutes on a shot by Jaque Rice, but the Seahawks answered quickly. With seven minutes left in regulation, freshman Le’la Allen passed the ball to Sandra Battista, who made a defender miss and gave the Green and White a 2-1 lead.

With time running out in regulation, the Gaels equalized again, as Erika Flowers converted on a direct free kick in the 89th minute.

The Seahawks take on NJIT at Hameline Field Friday at 7 p.m.
