WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Jessica Johnson’s goal in the 54th minute lifted the Monmouth University women to a 1-0 victory over Seton Hall at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn Monday evening.

Monmouth (2-2-1) won its ninth consecutive match at Hesse Field. The Hawks have outscored their opponents, 36-6. during the winning streak. Seton Hall fell to 0-3-1.

Following a scoreless first half, Monmouth wasted little time in finding the decisive goal. The Hawks earned a corner kick on the near sideline and Johnson bent a right-footed cross into the far side netted past a diving goalkeeper Anna MacLean for her second career goal

Monmouth keeper Amanda Knaub finished off her third shutout of the season with a two of her five saves after the Hawks secured the lead.

“Tonight’s match was a hard-fought win for our team,” Monmouth head coach Krissy Turner said. “We continue to improve each game and that is a big positive for our team.

The Hawks close their three-match homestand when they host Drexel University Friday at 7 p.m.. The game will be part of Club Soccer Night at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn.
