PRINCETON, N.J. – Princeton University built a two-goal halftime advantage and defeated the Monmouth University women, 3-0, at Roberts Stadium Friday night.

The home side scored both of its first-half goals after capitalizing on loose balls inside the Monmouth penalty area. The second goal came with 1:15 left in the first half and was the first of two goals for Princeton’s Abby Givens.

Natalie Larkin, who scored the Tigers’ opening goal, set up the third marker in the 70th minute. Her run down the left side led to a cross that was one-timed past Monmouth goalie Amanda Knaub.

“We have competed against a few NCAA Tournament-caliber teams in the past few games,” Monmouth head coach Krissy Turner said. “Tonight we competed much better than we did in the last game, but continue to have work to do in order to be at the level we need to be.”
