STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Wagner College women will look to continue its strong start to the season after a scoreless tie against Liberty in the season opener and an extratime victory over Delaware State Sunday.

The Seahawks will face off with Rider for their second consecutive road contest on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Sunday’s win against Delaware State marked the first collegiate head coaching victory for new Seahawk head coach Phil Casella.

“I am so proud of these ladies and the way they are battling every day,” Casella said. “Delaware State was a tough team. We found a way to avoid breaking down, capitalized on our momentum and found a way to win.”

After her game-winning goal in the 112th minute Sunday, goalkeeper Delaney Beck was named a Northeast Conference Prime Performer. In goal, the sophomore has turned away eight shots in two games, logging a combined 115 minutes.
