UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Hofstra University women fell to Penn State University, 3-0, on at Jeffrey Field Sunday afternoon.

Hofstra (0-2) held the Nittany Lions (2-0) off the board throughout the first half, with a strong showing from the Pride backline.

Goalkeeper Ashley Wilson made two important saves early in the second half to keep things scoreless, but Penn State netted two goals in less than a minute to put the game out of reach.

Frankie Tagliaferri scored the first off an Emily Ogle corner kick in the 53rd minute before Ogle doubled the Nittany Lions’ lead on a penalty kick in the 54th minute. Megan Schafer added a long-range goal in the 78th minute.

Hofstra visits Columbia for a 7 p.m. game Friday before heading to Boston University for a 4 p.m. matchup Aug. 27.
