Sean Davis scored an impressive goal in the Red Bulls’ 3-1 home victory over Orlando City SC Saturday night. In fact, his goal score was so impressive that Davis was honored as the winner of FrontRowSoccer.com’s goal of the week Monday.

The Red Bulls’ midfielder was honored through games of Sunday.

With the Red Bulls clinging to a 2-1 lead in the 80th minute at Red Bull Arena, Davis curled a 25-yard shot into the lower right corner of the net past goalkeeper Joe Bendik for a vital insurance tally.

“I just wanted to put it on frame and make a difference,” Davis said. “My confidence is growing and I have a belief I can make a difference in the final third.”

Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch has seen a marked improvement in Davis’ play of late. He said Davis’ performance has been “outstanding. Outstanding. Outstanding.”

“Sean has covered ground, pressed well, counter-pressed well, battled in the midfield, slowed down for us, made great attacking plays, been dangerous around the goal. Complete performances. Complete performances.

“So you know, we all have seen over the last three years what a good player Sean is and it’s just been trying to unlock him a little bit and then tactically try to think about how to use him appropriately.”
