PISCATAWAY, N.J. – After its second international break of the season, Sky Blue FC returns to National Women’s Soccer League action, hosting the Washington Spirit at Yurcak Field at 7 p.m. Friday.

Sky Blue FC (7-7-2, 23 points) will try to break the .500 barrier against the Spirit (3-8-3, 12), which will try to snap a four-game winless streak.

“We are excited to get back on the field after the break last weekend,” Sky Blue FC head coach Christy Holly said. “The team has been looking very rejuvenated and fresh during training, and we are ready to make a big push as we enter the final third of the season.”

The New Jersey side will look to get back on the winning track after seeing a rally come up just short in its last outing against Seattle Reign FC two weeks ago. Trailing 4-0 in the second half, Sky Blue FC responded with four goals in 26 minutes to level that match at 4-4, with four goal-scorers finding the back of the net. Megan Rapinoe then finished a Katlyn Johnson feed in the 87th minute to claim a 5-4 result for Seattle.

Sky Blue FC leads the all-time series with the Spirit at 7-5-2 and it holds a 4-2-0 edge in New Jersey. The last time these two clubs met was May 6 at the Maryland SoccerPlex, where seven goals were scored. Sky Blue FC came out on the wrong side, losing 4-3.
