NEW YORK – Three New York Surf Soccer Club players Friday received All-East Conference recognition by United Women’s Soccer.
NY Surf had two players receive first team honors, with forward Furtuna Velaj and defender Brooke Salmon being selected.
Velaj made nine appearances and played 691 minutes, recording five goals and three assists for 13 points. Salmon did not miss a minute, starting all 10 matches and playing 900 minutes. Salmon also had an assist.
Receiving a second team nod was forward Erica Murphy, who paced the Surf attack with eight goals, one assist and 17 points. Murphy averaged better than a goal per game, playing 594 minutes over seven appearances.
Salmon was one of five players in the conference who was named as part of the Iron Women of the Year. The recognition acknowledges those athletes who played every minute of every game during the season.
