If the Red Bulls are hot, then Daniel Royer is red-hot.

The New York midfielder has scored four goals in his last three games, including three in two victories over four days.

So, it should not be surprising that Royer was named the FrontRowSoccer.com player of the week.

He was honored for the week ending Sunday, July 23.

Let’s start with Wednesday, when Royer found the net twice deep in the match of the Red Bulls’ 5-1 romp over the San Jose Earthquakes. He scored 103 seconds apart — in the 90th minute and a minute into stoppage time.

In the 3-0 triumph at Minnesota United Saturday, Royer scored the first goal off a Felipe feed in the 16th minute and set up Bradley Wright-Phillips goal in the 67th minute.

Royer has recorded eight goals and two assists in 20 games this season.

“When we have rotated things tactically, it’s put him in positions to have a little bit more freedom in how he finds the attack,” Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch said. “He’s now catching more balls and facing their back line instead of always having back to goal. So, any attacking player will tell you that they would always rather face the goal than have their back to it.

“Danny’s in a good way, he loves being here. I say that about him all the time because he comes from Austria and we obviously have connections in Europe so that’s how we found him. He’s been a really good fit and he’s only getting better.”
