HARRISON, N.J. – The Red Bulls Wednesday placed defender Justin Bilyeu on waivers, the club announced.

A native of St. Louis, Mo., the 23-year-old Bilyeu was selected in the first round of the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.

He appeared in four Major League Soccer matches for the club, as well as 2016 Lamar Hunt/U.S. Open Cup and CONCACAF Champions League games.

The defender also saw time with NYRB II, the club’s United Soccer League affiliate.

“We thank Justin for his service to the club, and wish him well in his future endeavors,” Red Bulls sporting director Denis Hamlett said in a statement.
