NEW YORK – Midfielder Emmanuel Ledesma isn’t going anywhere, at least for a while.
The Cosmos announced Monday that Ledesma has agreed to a contract extension with the two-time defending North American Soccer League champions.
“We are very happy to keep Manu in our roster. His experience and quality are very important for the club,” Cosmos head coach and sporting director Giovanni Savarese said in a statement. “We look forward to seeing him contribute to the growth of our team.”
Ledesma has become a mainstay for the team.
The Argentine signed with the Cosmos in March and has made four appearances, netting a goal and two assists.
He earned NASL play of the week honors for his game-winning chip shot against the San Francisco Deltas in Week 6 of the spring season. The goal was also voted fan favorite for April.
Ledesma was named to the NASL team of the month for May and boasts two NASL team of the week selections.
