BRONX, N.Y. – New York Surf Soccer Club registered a season-high four goals in a 4-2 win over the New England Mutiny in a United Women’s Soccer match at SUNY Maritime College Saturday.

The Surf (2-0-1, 7 points) tied the Long Island Rough Riders (2-0-1, 7) for the Eastern Conference lead.

NY Surf opened its account in the the eighth minute. Midfielder Flo Gamby sent a ball into the penalty area for Jordan Clark, who redirected a header into the back of the net.

The hosts continued to press forward and extended its lead in the 13th minute as forward Erica Murphy used some crafty footwork to put away her first goal as a Surf.

While New England closed the gap to 2-1 in the 29th minute, forward Maegen Doyle responded for the Surf in the 54th minute for a 3-1 lead. Doyle continued her stellar play into the 59th minute, setting up Albania international Furtuna Velaj for a 4-1 margin.

The Mutiny pulled back a goal in the 73rd minute behind a penalty-kick conversion.

NY Surf has a very quick turnaround traveling to Pennsylvania Sunday to face the Lancaster Inferno (1-2-0, 3) at 3 p.m.

The team returns home to SUNY Maritime College to host the New York Magic Saturday, June 10 at 2 p.m. SUNY Maritime College is located at 6 Pennyfield Ave. in the Bronx.
