OCEAN CITY, N.J. — The Ocean Cith Nor’easters endured an excrutiating exit from the Lamar Hunt/U.S. Open Cup Wednesday night.

The Premier Development League side was eliminated via penalty kicks in the second-round match.

After playing the Harrisburg City Islanders to a scoreless draw in 120 minutes, Ocean City lost in the shootout, 7-6, at the Beach House.

The Islanders’ Pedro Ribiero misfired on the team’s first attempt in penalties, giving Ocean City an early advantage.

With pressure mounting, Harrisburg City goalkeeper Brandon Miller made a crucial stop in the fourth round of the shootout on Fraser Colmer’s try. A Nor’easters miss in the eighth round set the Islanders up for the win when Mouhamed Dabo calmly finished his spot kick.

Harrisburg, which competes in the United Soccer League, moved onto a third-round date with the PDL’s Reading United AC, which ousted the Cosmos in a major upset, 3-2.
