For the third consecutive week and for the sixth time this season, a New York City FC player has been named winner of goal of the week.

This time the honor goes to forward Tommy McNamara, who connected for the equalizer in City’s 1-1 tie at FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium Sunday night.

The West Nyack, N.Y. native was honored for the week ending Sunday, May 14.

McNamara headed home a rebound of a David Villa free kick in the 69th minute to equalize as City took home a well-earned point in the Major League Soccer match.

Villa blasted a free kick off the crossbar. McNamara crashed the net and managed to head the rebound past goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez before defender Matt Hedges could clear the ball out of harm’s way.

“David hits a brilliant free kick, so chances are it was going to on frame, if not even in the goal,” McNamara said. “My thought was just in case it doesn’t go in and there’s a rebound, let me get myself in a position to make a play.”

The two most recent NYCFC honorees include Jack Harrison and Rodney Wallace.
