HARRISON, N.J. – For one night at least, midfielder Derrick Etienne, Jr. will play with his old team, Red Bulls II.

The Red Bulls loaned the Homegrown player to the club’s United Soccer League team prior to its Thursday road match at the Charlotte Independence at Eagle Field on the campus of Winthrop University.

As per the right of recall incorporated into the loan agreement of Etienne Jr., the Red Bulls ( retain the right to recall the player at any point during the Major League Soccer regular season, subject to league roster compliance guidelines.

A Patterson, N.J. native, Etienne, Jr. joined the Red Bulls Academy as an Under-14 player. He was signed as a Homegrown Player Dec. 21, 2015.

In 2016, Etienne Jr. featured regularly for NYRB II, recording seven goals and seven assists in 28 games total as the club captured its first USL Championship.

Etienne Jr. has played in nine MLS games this season, making four starts.
