HARRISON, N.J. – Red Bulls II Wednesday announced they had acquired forward Douglas Martinez from CD Vida in Honduras.

The 6-foot Martinez is fully registered with the United Soccer League and U.S. Soccer and will be available for selection for NYRB II’s next match when the Harrisburg City Islanders visit Montclair State University May 6.

“Douglas is a young international player that has many of the tools we look for in an attacking player,” Red Bulls II head coach John Wolyniec said in a statement. “We feel that his pace and energy, aggressive mentality and determination fit in well with our style of play.”

The 19-year-old Martinez joins NYRB II for the remainder of the season from the Honduran first division side. He made his professional debut for the club at the age of 16 in 2013.

A native of Olanchito, Honduras, Martinez played in 13 games for CD Vida in 2017, starting nine games and scoring one goal.

He has featured regularly for his country’s Under-20 team, most recently at the U-20 CONCACAF Championship, starting five of the teams’ six games. He scored one goal as Honduras qualified for this summer’s FIFA U-20 World Cup in South Korea with a second-place finish.
