An outdoor soccer team named the Rochester Lancers — the Lady Lancers — will play its first game at NJ Copa FC in its United Soccer Women’s opening match at Saint John Vianney HS in Holmdel, N.J. Saturday, May 13 at 7 p.m.

And to prove there’s no rest for the weary, the same Lancers will travel to Longmeadow High School in Longmeadow, Mass. to face the New England Mutiny Sunday at 3 p.m.

Next week, the women’s team and men’s team will play their first home games at the Wegman’s Sports Complex in Rochester, N.Y.

The Lady Lancers will host the New York Magic at 1 p.m., followed by the Lancers men in their first National Premier Soccer League game at 4 p.m.

It will be the first three Sunday doubleheaders at the complex.

The Lady Lancers’ 12-game UWS regular season runs through July 1.

The Lancers’ 12-game NPSL regular season will be completed July 15.

The women’s squad will play in the seven-team UWS East Division. The other teams: Lancaster Inferno, Long Island Rough Riders, New England Mutiny, NJ. Copa FC, New York Surf and Western New York Flash.

The men’s side will compete in the seven-team Midwest East Conference in the NPSL. The other clubs: AFC Cleveland, Dayton Dynamo, Erie Commodores, FC Buffalo, Fort Pitt Regiment and Syracuse FC.
