There is a good reason why left back Kemar Lawrence is not in the Red Bulls’ Starting XI against the Seattle Sounders for Sunday night’s game.

He is away from the MLS club due to personal reasons, head coach Jesse Marsch says.

During New York’s pregame show on Red Bulls radio, announcer Mark Harmon said Lawrence was in his native Jamaica taking care of personal and family situations.

On that show, Marsch said that “something happened in” Lawrence’s personal life.

“He’s doing OK,” he added. “He has to get through some moments with his family. We’re all thinking about him.”

Lawrence was replaced in the starting lineup by Justin Bilyeu, who is making his first start of the young Major League Soccer season.

A member of the Jamaican national team, Lawrence has made 46 Red Bulls appearances since joining the team via a transfer in March 2015.
