The Long Island Soccer Football League has opened early registration for the 2017 Ryder-Vass Men’s Under-23 and Women’s Open Tournaments.
Teams interested in registering can access the registration form by clicking here http://www.lisfl.org/docs/U23/2017%20Ryder%20Registration%20Form.pdf and send it along with payment to the LISFL office. The league website is www.lifsl.org.
Early registration fees are $550 for junior teams affiliated with Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association or adult teams affiliated with ENYSSA. Non-affiliated teams will be charged $650.
Early registration ends Friday, March 10. Any teams that register after that date will be charged $750. No exceptions will be made.
The tournament kick-off meeting will be held at the LISFL office Friday, May 12 at 8 p.m. The office is located on the second floor at 95 Broadway, Hicksville, N.Y. 11801. Tournament packets will be distributed at the meeting if payment has been received. Members of the LISFL board of directors will be present to answer questions about the tournaments.
Registration must be completed by Saturday, May 20 for all teams. If any spots are available after May 20, teams will be accepted on a conditional basis.
The tournaments will begin in early June and continue throughout June and July. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of 6 games plus play-offs. The tournaments will conclude on in July (date to be determined).
The winning team will go on to represent the LISFL in the New York State U-23 tournament final. The date, time, and location for the state tournament final have not yet been finalized.
Registered teams also can participate in the USASA Region 1 U-23 Tournament held on Father’s Day weekend June 16-18 in Horsham, Pa. Information will be distributed to all registered teams once USASA Region 1 opens registration.
LISFL President Gus Xikis described how “as summer draws closer many teams are finishing their game schedules, many former players are returning from college. For some teams, it may be the last year in a league competition, for others fond memories of their former team.”
Xikis described the Ryder-Vass Tournament as “the perfect venue to keep your team together” and how “the competition is outstanding with some of the best college players competing in the tournament.”
Players must be born on or after Jan. 1, 1994 to be eligible for the men’s tournament, although teams are allowed to field three over-age players. There are no age restrictions for the women’s tournament.
