Kathy Carter will speak on Thursday morning.

PHILADELPHIA — With less than a month remaining prior to the U.S. Soccer presidential race, the United Soccer Coaches convention will become an important and last major mouthpiece for the eight candidates to reach a sizable audience to state their case.

They are vying to slot that will be vacated by Sunil Gulati, who has decided not to run for a fourth term.

Seven of the eight candidates will have an hour to speak to the coaches, fans, media and interest observers. There also will be a two-hour candidates’ forum Saturday at 1 p.m.

It originally had been scheduled to be a debate, but U.S. Youth Soccer CEO Chris Moore told the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News on Tuesday afternoon that his organization made “a determination that it would be in the best interest of the U.S. Youth Soccer membership to have a series of one on one sessions with each of the eight candidates as opposed to a debate.”
