Two former Cosmos, defender Hunter Gorskie and midfielder Leo Fernandes, have re-signed with the Tampa Bay Rowdies for the 2018 United Soccer League season.

As per club and league policy, contract details were not disclosed.

Fernandes who agreed to join the Rowdies last offseason and got off to a promising start in 2017, helping Tampa Bay to an opening day win over Orlando City B by drawing a penalty that was converted into a goal.

The North Babylon, N.Y. native and former Stony Brook University standout usually was deployed on the left wing with Tampa Bay.

The 26-year-old midfielder was named the North American Soccer League’s Young Player of the Year in 2015 after scoring eight goals and providing two assists.

Gorskie, 26, joined the Rowdies in late August of last year and made an instant impact on the back line. He started all 10 matches after joining the squad and scored three goals. In his 10 matches, the Rowdies lost once in regulation.

“We saw some really exciting things from Leo last season before his injury and Hunter obviously played really well for us down the stretch,” Rowdies head coach Stuart Campbell said. “Both players work extremely hard in training and set a good example for the players around them, so we’re delighted to see what they can do in 2018.”
