Olimpia, the Red Bulls’ opponent in the Round of 16 of the CONCACAF Champions League, will be down two key players.

Alajuelense of Costa Rica has acquired midfielder Luis Garrido and forward Roger Rojas from the Honduran club.

Garrido and Rojas were considered vital components of Olimpia’s run to the CONCACAF League title in 2017, which clinched a berth in the CCL.

The 27-year-old Rojas connected for five goals as the CL’s top scorer and has tallied eight goals in the CCL.

Garrido, 27, who played for Honduras’ Copa Centroamericana title team, performed in seven of eight CL games.

It was not immediately known with whom Olimpia will replace Garrido and Rojas.

The Red Bulls visit Olimpia Feb. 22 and host the team at Red Bull Arena March 1.
