MIAMI – David Beckham has some new partners for his prospective Major League Soccer expansion team.

Jorge and José Mas, Miami-based leaders of telecommunications giant MasTec and philanthropists with ties to the South Florida community, and Japanese entrepreneur and SoftBank founder and CEO Masayoshi Son, Thursday were approved by the league’s Board of Governors as additional owners of Miami’s potential expansion team.

A further announcement on the team is expected to be made before the start of next season.

Jorge and José Mas and Masayoshi Son join an ownership group that includes Beckham, Sprint CEO and Brightstar founder Marcelo Claure, and Simon Fuller, the entertainment entrepreneur and manager.

Jorge Mas is the co-founder and chairman of the board of MasTec. José Mas is the telecommunications company’s CEO. Both are Miami natives who live in the city.
