HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – After earning United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-East Region first team honors earlier this week, Hofstra University junior defender Madeline Anderson has been named to the association’s Scholar All-America second team, it was announced Thursday afternoon.

The honor caps an accolade-filled season for Anderson, who was named the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year, while also earning ECAC and United Soccer Coaches All-Region first team honors. The Westbury, N.Y., native has posted a 3.34 grade-point average as an exercise science major.

Anderson anchored a Hofstra backline that led the Pride to 11 shutouts on the season, allowing three goals through a 9-0 conference slate.

She helped the team to a 12-game win streak and 14-game unbeaten run en route to the CAA regular-season and tournament titles, also earning CAA All-tournament team honors. Anderson finished the season with two goals and two assists, with both of her goals game-winners.
