YONKERS, N.Y. — In a matter of days, the New York Greek Americans pulled off a shootout victory in a national competition.

In a battle of Cosmopolitan Soccer League giants, the Greek Americans outlasted the Lansdowne Bhoys in a shootout, 8-7, to capture the Eastern New York State Soccer Association’s Fricker Cup at Tibbets Park Tuesday night.

The Greek Americans advanced to the Region I bracket of the national competition.

The CSL side captured the state final of the U.S. Amateur Cup with a 6-5 penalty-kick tie-breaker win over the New York Pancyprian Freedoms after playing to a 2-2 draw.

On a rain Tuesday night, the rivals played to a scoreless draw before penalty kicks decided the affair.
