POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Monmouth University men dropped their second consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference extratime contest, falling at Marist College, 3-2, Wednesday night.

After the extratime defeat to Manhattan College Saturday, the Hawks (4-7-1, 1-3-0) were edged by the Red Foxes (6-7-0, 2-3-0) on the late goal.

With 40 seconds left in extratime, Marist’s Kevin Kappock gathered the loose ball and curved it inside the right post.

Monmouth opened the scoring in the ninth minute on a Marist own goal, as sophomore Geoff Schaefer ripped a shot off the defender and over the goalkeeper.

After the Red Foxes scored the next two goals, junior Luke Bromley headed home the free kick from senior Jake Areman to tie it up in the 80th minute.

The Hawks host Siena College Saturday at 7 p.m.
