HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Junior Madeline Anderson was named Colonial Athletic Association defensive player of the week, the conference announced Monday.

Anderson played all 180 minutes in Hofstra’s back-to-back shutouts last week, helping the Pride improve to 6-0 in conference play and earn a CAA Tournament berth. Her consistency on defense allowed Hofstra to allow three shots on goal in the week.

She also got involved on the offensive end with a hand in both game-winners. She set up Maya Watkins’ goal at Towson on Thursday before heading in a corner kick for a goal of her own on Sunday against James Madison. The Pride took an NCAA-record 26 corner kicks against the Dukes.

This is Hofstra’s second straight week with a CAA weekly honor and fourth this season.

Hofstra heads to defending CAA champion Northeastern University on Thursday for a 6 p.m. game.
