HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Senior Kristin Desmond scored twice for the Hofstra University women recorded a 2-1 victory over UNCW at Hofstra Soccer Stadium Sunday afternoon.

The Pride (6-3-2, 2-0) is unbeaten in its last five games, going 4-0-1 over that span.

UNCW (4-6-2, 0-1-1) got on the board first, with a tic-tac-toe play that Dominique Martinez headed into the back of the net in the 30th minute.

It took Hofstra only 48 seconds to find the equalizer, with junior Jenn Buoncore playing the ball into Desmond, who beat goalkeeper Sydney Schneider.

After Schneider committed a foul in the box, the Pride was awarded a penalty kick that Desmond put away into the left side in the 57th minute for the game-winner.

Desmond has scored a team-high six goals, including two game-winners.

Goalkeepers Jenna Borresen and Ashley Wilson again split the game, with Wilson making four saves to hold UNCW off the board in the second half. Borresen has allowed one goal in 346:57 this season.
