Tommy McNamara, who scored a brilliant individual goal for New York City FC in its 1-1 draw at the Colorado Rapids Saturday night, was named  winner of the FrontRowSoccer.com goal of the week Monday.

The West Nyack, N.Y. native was honored for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 17.

McNamara, the NYCFC captain for the third consecutive match in the absence of David Villa, gave the visitors a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute.

He stole the ball from Jared Watts at midfield and then took advantage of a ton of room given by the Rapids and advancing to the top of the penalty area, where he drilled a shot past goalkeeper Tim Howard and into the top corner of the net.
