NEW YORK – The Columbia University men scored a goal in each half and held Monmouth University to 10 shots to record a 2-1 victory at Rocco B. Commisso Stadium Tuesday night.
Francisco Agrest and Arthur Bosua netted goals for the Lions (2-0-2) and Bosua, Matthew Swain and Dylan Mott also finished with assists. Monmouth fell to 2-3-1.
“It’s about not giving stuff up and creating opportunities,” head coach Kevin Anderson said. “Tonight we created a good amount, created the same amount the other night. We’re getting there. It’s a process.”
Agrest finished the turnaround shot after receiving the head flick from Arthur Bosua to give the hosts a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute.
The Lions doubled their advantage in the 62nd minute as Bosua deflected the pass from Swain close to the six.
Monmouth junior Zachary Pereira gathered the pass from John Antunes and buried his sixth career goal in the 76th minute.
Monmouth will remain on the road for a Saturday matchup at No. 25 UMass-Lowell.
Columbia will travel to Binghamton University for a game Saturday at 1 p.m.
