The Pride (1-2-2) is coming off back-to-back draws, including a 1-1 decision with Long Island rival Stony Brook University in Saturday’s home opener. Sophomore Luke Brown, reigning Colonial Athletic Association rookie of the year, netted his first goal of the season with seniors Jon Fraser and Danny Elliott recording assists.

The Huskies entered the season nationally ranked, but have gotten off to a 1-2-1 start, dropping their season opener to Iona in extratime and with their only win coming over Quinnipiac in extratime. UConn has played two ranked opponents since, falling to No. 9 Notre Dame, 1-0, and playing to a 1-1 draw with No. 18 Georgetown. The Huskies have mustered two goals this season, with Mbacke Abdou Thiam leading the team with a goal and an assist and Austin DaSilva picking up the other tally.

The Huskies were favored in the American Conference preseason poll after finishing 11-7-1 last season.

Hofstra and Connecticut have met four times, but only once since 1973, with the then-No. 4 Huskies taking a 2-0 victory in 2007.

The Pride jumps into Colonial Athletic Conference play next weekend, hosting Elon Saturday at 7 p.m. at Hofstra Soccer Stadium.
