New York City FC goalkeeper Sean Johnson, who recorded as shutout in one game and made several exceptional saves in another, was named the FrontRowSoccer.com player of the week.

It was the second honor for the veteran goalkeeper within four weeks as Johnson was honored for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 10. He also earned the honor Aug. 14.

While he was rarely tested, Johnson secured a clean sheet in City’s 1-0 home win over Sporting Kansas City Wednesday night. He wound up on the losing end of a 1-0 result to the Portland Timbers at Yankee Stadium Saturday, but was outstanding in the net. making seven saves.

Johnson made a spectacular, one-handed save on Diego Valeri in the 84th minute, which denied the visitors from doubling the score.
