JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Wagner College women earned their third road victory in as many attempt, defeating Saint Peter’s College, 2-0, Wednesday night.

The Green and White improved to 3-1-1 and extended its winning streak over the Peacocks to seven games.

“Great performance with some very good moments, especially in the second half,” head coach Phil Casella said. “We scored two very good goals tonight through the run of play. We were solid defensively and played aggressively despite the poor weather. We are looking to build on this performance for our next match vs Iona which will be another hard test on Sunday.”

Wagner took the lead in the 37th minute when freshman Samantha LaValle scored her first collegiate goal.

After defending three consecutive corner kick opportunities by the Peacocks to start the second half, the Seahawks doubled their lead 10 minutes into the half on junior Kristen Bischoff’s first score of the seaspm.

The Seahawks needed to survive a tense moment when, 60 minutes into the contest, Saint Peter’s was awarded a penalty kick after a hand ball in the box. Kelsey Nugent, however, missed wide.

Wagner has another road test, squaring off with Iona College Sunday at 11 a.m.
