MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Behind junior goalkeeper Bobby Edwards’ third shutout of the season, the Monmouth University men played No. 19 West Virginia to a scoreless draw oMonday afternoon.

Monmouth (2-1-1) kept the Mountaineers to minimal scoring opportunities, as the back line in front of Edwards remained strong.

“It was a big result for our program against a team that is ranked top 20 in the country,” Monmouth head coach Robert McCourt said. “The guys had tired legs after Friday’s game and travel, so I give them credit for being able to come into this big time program and get a tie on the road. There are a lot of new faces in the group, but different players continue to step up and be difference makers. This experience will give us something to build on moving forward.”

Monmouth will return home to host UMBC Saturday at 7 p.m.
