Red Bulls captain Sacha Kljestan, who scored a goal and set up another in the 2-2 draw at FC Dallas Saturday night, was named winner of FrontRowSoccer.com’s player and goal of the week Monday.

Kljestan was honored for games played through Sunday, Sept. 3.

The veteran midfielder scored off a Bradley Wright-Phillips back heel feed set him for a 17-yard blast in the 43rd minute as New York grabbed a 1-0 lead.

“Good play by Alex [Muyl] and Bradley to create a little combo,” Kljestan said. “I made the runoff, and Bradley did great to get a little flick to me. I just created a little bit of space for myself and tried to put it on target.”

Kljestan worked some magic on a free kick in the 57th minute as enter back Aaron Long headed in the midfielder’s long free kick past goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez from five yards for a 2-1 margin. It was Long’s first MLS goal.
