EDISON, N.J. – Monmouth University sophomore goalkeeper Amanda Knaub was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women’s defensive player of the week, it was announced Monday.

Knaub earned the recognition after making three saves in the Hawks’ 1-0 victory over visiting Fairleigh Dickinson Friday afternoon.

Her performance was highlighted by a diving effort that keep the game scoreless in the 66th minute, which helped Monmouth secure its first victory of the season. The Hawks extended their home winning streak to eight games as Knaub earned her second clean sheet of the year and 11th career shutout.

Monmouth (1-2-1) hosts Seton Hall on Monday evening at 7 p.m. at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN App.
