KANSAS CITY, Kansas, Mo. — Sky Blue FC will seek its third consecutive victory when it visits FC Kansas City in a National Women’s Soccer League game at Children’s Mercy Park Sunday at 6 p.m.

Sky Blue FC enters the match at 9-9-2 and 32 points, KC at 3-9-7 and 16 points.

“We took a lot of confidence from last week’s game and getting the three points,” Sky Blue FC assistant coach David Hodgson said. “Improving our defensive posture has been a key focus, so it was great to see all of our hard work lead us to a clean sheet. We now head into Kansas City with our tails up and looking for a win. Our attitude with every game moving forward is to treat it like a cup final.”

FC Kansas City saw a three-match winning streak snapped last weekend by the Orlando Pride, suffering a 2-1 loss after Marta connected with Alex Morgan in the 87th minute for a late game-winner.

KC leads this head-to-head series with a 5-4-3 record. The two clubs are even in matches that have been played in Kansas City at 2-2-1. Both of the previous two meetings this season occurred at Yurcak Field in New Jersey.

Sky Blue FC will return home to host the Washington Spirit Sunday, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m.
