HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Hofstra University women opened their home slate with a bang, topping Eastern Washington, 4-0, at Hofstra Soccer Stadium Thursday night.

The Pride (2-2-1) had four goal-scorers, led by senior Emily Hulbert’s goal and assist. The Eagles fell to 2-3 after their first game in New York.

Hofstra led 2-0 barely over 17 minutes into the match. Senior Noriana Radwan got the Pride on the board just over a minute in, bending a corner kick into the top of the net. Hulbert doubled the lead at 17:33, putting the ball away off a header through-ball from junior Jenn Buoncore.

Freshman Lucy Shepherd tallied her first career goal, sending a shot into the right corner off a pass from Hulbert in the 36th minute for 3-0 lead. Classmate Sabrina Bryan added an insurance goal from close range in the 56th minute.

The Pride continues its four-game homestand, hosting Yale at Hofstra Soccer Stadium Monday at 7 p.m.
