For the second week in a row and for the fourth time this season (and since July 3), Sky Blue FC striker Sam Kerr has been named week of the FrontRowSoccer.com goal of the week.

The Australian international was honored for the week ending Sunday, Aug. 27.

On Saturday night, Kerr struck in the fifth minute to lift the Jersey side to a 1-0 victory over the Boston Breakers in the National Women’s Soccer League match before 2,244. It also was her record-tying 16th goal of the season.

The victory evened fifth-place Sky Blue FC’s (29 points) record at 9-9-2 while the ninth-place Breakers (16) fell to 3-10-7.

Last week Kerr recorded a league-record four goals in Sky Blue’s amazing 5-4 comeback triumph over Seattle Reign FC.

Kerr performed her magic in the fifth minute as he latched onto a long pass from the back. As Breakers goalkeeper Abby Smith ventured 40 yards out of the goal into midfielder to try to clear the ball. However, she missed as Kerr and the ball slipped by her. With two defenders flanking her, Kerr raced into the penalty area, depositing the ball into an empty net.

Kerr equaled the league record set by Seattle’s Kim Little in 2014.
