HARRISBURG, Pa. — Darius Madison scored the lone goal and goalkeeper Dan Lynd registered the shutout to lead the Rochester Rhinos to a 1-0 United Soccer League win over the Harrisburg City Islanders Tuesday.

The game culminated a three-game roadtrip in which Rochester (9-4-8, 35 points) brought home six out of a possible nine points while moving four points behind the first-place Charlotte Independence. The Rhinos also captured the first Capelli Sport Hero Cup, winning on aggregate, 2-0. They won the first leg in Rochester July 8, 1-0.

Madison tallied the game winner in the 25th-minute on the first shot of the match on a header off a free kick from Wal Fall. The Rhinos made sure they held up Madison’s third goal of the season. Lynd, a second-year goalkeeper who hailed from suburban Penfield, N.Y. recorded five saves to earn the victory and second clean sheet #2 of his career. His first came in his last start, a 2-0 triumph over Toronto FC II July 26.

The Rhinos performed without captain Kenardo Forbes and everyday starting center back Joe Farrell, who earned red cards in Saturday’s 2-1 loss at Red Bulls II.

Rochester returns home to face the second-place Charleston Battery Saturday, Aug. 19.
