Jim Maurer will be loaned to a Major League Soccer club, but he won’t miss any action with the Cosmos.

The veteran goalkeeper will join FC Dallas for a game, according to Kristian Dyer of Metro New York.

He was needed by Dallas because keeper Jesse Gonzalez was called up by the U.S. national team for the CONCACAF Gold Cup.

Since the Cosmos are on a break between the spring and fall seasons, the two-time defending North American Soccer League champions won’t miss the 28-year-old Maurer. Their next league match is against Miami FC in their fall season opener at MCU Park in Coney Island, Brooklyn, N.Y. Saturday, July 29.

One of the team’s most valuable players, Maurer has a 1.31 goals-against this season and has a 1.17 GAA in his six-year NASL career. He also has recorded 42 shutouts for New York.
