FRISCO, Texas — Regardless if he starts or comes off the bench, Rodney Wallace has proven to be a dangerous weapon for Costa Rica.

Eleven minutes after coming on for Randall Azofeifa in the 68th minute, the New York City FC forward struck for the insurance goal in the Ticos’ 3-0 Group A victory over French Guiana at Toyota Stadium Friday night.

Wallace took a feed from Marco Urena and beat goalkeeper Donovan Leon.

As a starter, Wallace also tallied in Costa Rica’s opening match, a 2-0 win over Honduras at Red Bull Arena last Friday.

The Central Americans won the group wth a 2-0-1 mark and seven points and will play in the quarterfinals in Philadelphia Wednesday.
