LAGRANGE, N.Y. — Cedar Stars Staten Island Green shut out Lynbrook/East Rockaway Sting, 2-0, to win the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association Boys Under-15 State Open Cup at Stringham Park Sunday, June 4.

Logan Deitchman scored off a cross by Jack Kwong, George Devine tallied on a penalty kick while goalkeeper Owen Kwong had the shutou against the Long Island Junior Soccer League side.

Cedar Stars, who play in the Eastern New York Premier League, will represent ENYYSA at the Region I championships in Spotsylvania, Va. June 30-July 4.

Cedar Stars also received the Rocco Amoroso Sportsmanship Award as determined by the game officials. The namesake of the award, who died last year, was inducted into the Halls of Fame of the LIJSL and Eastern New York plus was honored as a Life Member by U.S. Soccer. Amoroso started the LIJSL Sportsmanship Program in 1980. It has since been copied around the world and he spoke about the benefits of Fair Play across the United States.
