FENTON, Mo. – Red Bulls II squandered a one-goal lead late in the match and suffered a 3-2 loss to St. Louis FC in United Soccer League action Saturday night.

With New York enjoying a 2-1 advantage, former Red Bulls draft choice Jose Angulo equalized in the 74th minute and Seth Rudolph tallied the game-winner in the 84th minute to boost the hosts to the win.

It was Red Bulls II’ second consecutive loss, equaling their longest losing streak since late last season.

“We didn’t have a great first half, we looked hesitant,” Red Bulls II head coach John Wolyniec said. “We came out in the second half and played our best 15 minutes of soccer on the year. Then we let the game slip away from us, didn’t keep focus and concentration, stopped doing the things that gave us a lead. Overall, a tough one to drop.”

NYRB II fell behind early as a failed clearance gave a goal to reigning USL player of the week Christian Volesky in the third minute.

The defending USL champions, however, came back, striking twice in the opening 15 minutes of the second half.

Brandon Allen, the 2016 USL rookie of the year, opened his account for the season in the 52nd minute, getting a touch on the end of a Florian Valot cross to equalize at 1-1.

Six minutes later, Allen returned the favor to Vincent Bezecourt finding him unmarked in the box for a glancing header for a 2-1 advantage.

In the 61st minute, Bezecourt nearly scored a spectacular individual effort of a goal that nearly tucked inside the post, but it rattled out to Andrew Tinari, whose effort sailed just above the crossbar.

St. Louis responded in the 73rd minute, earning a penalty-kick in the box caused by a Tim Schmoll collision with the St. Louis attacker.

Angulo caught goalkeeper Evan Louro guessing the opposite direction to tie the game at 2-2.

St. Louis tallied game-winner in the 84th minute as a lofting ball found Rudolph, who one-touched his shot over Louro and into the back of the net.

Red Bulls II return home to MSU Soccer Park this Friday, April 14 at 7 p.m.to take on Orlando City B.
