New York City FC midfielder Alex Ring has been called up by Finland for its World Cup qualifier against Turkey March 24.

Ring, who has acquitted himself well in his first two games with the Major League Soccer team, is eligible to play for Finland in Antalya, Turkey Friday. The Finnish don’t have a qualifier scheduled for the next FIFA international date, March 28, but have scheduled a friendly against Austria in Innsbruck that day.

Finland has struggled in European Group I with a 0-3-1 record and only one point, which came in a 1-1 draw vs. Kosovo last September.

Ring’s most recent international appearance came in the 1-0 loss to the Ukraine in November.

He has played 42 times for Finland.
