Three area players were named to the 26-player roster for the U.S. Under-17 national team’s international camp.
The players include the Sands twins from Rye, N.Y. — New York City FC academy players James, a defender and William, a forward, and Red Bulls defender Christopher Gloster of Montclair, N.J.
The camp is taking place in San Pedro Sula, Honduras from Feb. 24-March 3, when the Americans will friendlies against the U-17 national team Feb. 27 and March 2.
The camp will aid in the U.S.’s preparation for the 2017 CONCACAF U-17 Championship, where the Americans have been paired with Jamaica, Mexico and El Salvador in Group C. The tournament will be held at Estadio Rommel Fernández and Estadio Maracaná de Panamá in Panama City from April 21–May 7. The CONCACAF Championship serves as the qualifying tournament for the 2017 U-17 World Cup in India.
