A second thirtysomething player who has performed in Italy’s Serie A is joining the Cosmos, according to a report by MLSsoccerItalia.com.

The website reported that winger Marco Marchionni is flying to New York to play with the two-time defending North American Soccer League champions. He will join former Parma teammate Amauri, 36, who signed with the team earlier this week.

The 36-year-old Marchionni has played for several Italian clubs, including Empoli, Parma, Juventus, Fiorentina, Parma, Sampdoria and Latina. He was a member of Parma’s Italian Cup winning side in 2001-02.

He made 21 appearances for the Italian Under-21 national team and played six times for the full national team from 2003-2009.

If he does sign, Marchionni will be the third Italian on the club as midfielder Andrea Mancini returns for a second season with the Cosmos.
