New York Cosmos B will open their National Premier Soccer League season at Boston City FC at Malden Catholic High School Saturday, April 29 at 7 p.m.

Boston City was the first team to record a victory over 90 minutes against the 2015 NPSL champions last season in a 3-2 away win.

But the Lions feel a sense of unfinished business at home where the Cosmos spoiled Boston City’s inaugural match party last May 1, earning a 3-1 victory at Brother Gilbert Field.

“We were a new team still discovering our identity the first time we hosted Cosmos B, but after a successful first season and with a growing confidence in how we play, we are looking forward to welcoming New York back to Boston,” head coach Palhinha said. “This will again be a tough and challenging way to start the new season, but we are excited to kick off in front of our great home supporters.”

When the teams first met in Malden, striker Yaw Addow scored the first goal in Boston City history after 32 minutes, but was later sent off and the 10 men were unable to hold onto the lead. Almost 1,000 fans braved heavy rain to welcome their city’s new professional soccer team.

Boston (10-4-2) reached the first round of the NPSL playoffs last year.
